10 OBs and 4 guests ventured to Sandy in Bedfordshire on 25 March to play at John O’Gaunt GC on their John O’Gaunt course.
The course was as dry as expected – this was the rationale for going there at this time of the year. This compares to our local Essex courses that are very wet due to the clay soil.
We started with breakfast, followed by 18 holes of Singles Stableford and then lunch.
OBs were competing for the Goddard Trophy and the winner was John Seabrook with 40 points.

Lionel Smith was second with 37 points and Adam Kodish third with 34 points.
Guests were competing for the Harmon Trophy and the winner was David Sparks with 38 points.

We also had 3 nearest the pin competitions and the winners were Mike Headford (par 3) and Andy Beer (par 4 & par 5).
