John Graham May (OB 1938-1945)
I am writing to inform you of the death of my father and Old Bancroftian, John Graham May, on 15 April 2019. He had been in a care home for some while as a result Alzheimer’s and died peacefully in hospital following a bout of pneumonia. He had a wonderful and very full life and he had many happy memories of his time at Bancroft’s and still talked lovingly of the food he had whilst at the school in the 40s, especially the “gyp” (gravy) and spotted dick. It was also at Bancroft’s that he learnt to play rugby, a game that he loved all his life which he passed on to my son, his only grandson.
