Jim Davies died suddenly on Wednesday 6th April 2016.
James was born in Ilford in June 1929.
He attended Highlands School before joining Bancrofts.
Jim is probably best remembered for his prowess outside the classroom rather than within it!
Winning a couple of cups for athletics he also represented Bancrofts at cricket at both Junior and Senior level and similarly at rugby, where he was also a member of the school seven a side team.
After leaving school he continued with his cricket, rugby and golf captaining the Old Bancroftian rugby team that went through the 1955 season unbeaten and also making the Eastern Counties side.
Jim considered himself to be extremely fortunate in the friendships he made at Bancrofts, which endured throughout their respective lives.
Bancroft’s was very important to him and he often attended the reunions – ill health preventing him from attending in the latter years.
Though ill for some time Jim passed away suddenly at home in April – he will be greatly missed by both his family and friends.
