Paul Butcher (OB 1960-1967)
It is with deep regret that we have heard the news that Paul Butcher passed away on 18th December 2019.
Jeremy Bromfield, Chair of the OBEDF, remembered Paul:
“Paul Butcher was a great supporter of the old OB Exhibition and Loan Fund and in more recent years, the OB Educational Development Fund. For well over twenty years until his retirement two years ago, because of failing eyesight, Paul had been the Fund’s auditor. His work as Auditor was thorough and highly valued and ensured that the annual accounts were always accurate and in good order for the Charity Commission. Not only were his contributions at the AGM pertinent they were also often delivered with a smile as he pointed out some minor discrepancy he had found! Paul often voluntarily attended committee meetings of the Fund, certainly well beyond the call of duty. What was always clear in his contributions was the high regard he had for the fund and the importance of its work in supporting Bancroftians in achieving educational ambitions which otherwise might not have been affordable. We were greatly in his debt for the years of service he gave.
We send our sympathy to his wife and children.” Paul’s funeral is at Kemnal Park cemetery Chislehurst (just off the A20) on Tuesday 7th January 2020 at 11am and afterwards at the Chislehurst golf club from about 12.30.
